爱尔兰利莫瑞克大学Mike Zawarotko教授暨纽约大学阿布扎比分校Panče Naumov教授学术报告

发布单位: 发布时间:2023/11/29

2023年11月16日,受天津大学李立强教授邀请,爱尔兰利莫瑞克大学Mike Zawarotko教授及纽约大学阿布扎比分校Panče Naumov教授在天津大学卫津路校区11教3层会议室开展了题目为“Why Crystals Will Save The World”和“The Dynamic Future of Molecular Crystals:A New Class of Engineering Materials”的线下学术报告。

Dr. Mike Zaworotko was born in Wales in 1956 and received his B. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Imperial College (1977) and the University of Alabama (1982), respectively. He served as a faculty member at Saint Mary's University, Nova Scotia, Canada, from 1985-1998, at University of Winnipeg, Canada from 1998-1999 and at the University of South Florida, USA, from 1999-2013. In 2013 he joined the University of Limerick, Ireland, where he currently serves as Bernal Chair of Crystal Engineering and was Co-Director of the Synthesis and Solid-State Pharmaceutical Centre, www.sspc.ie, from 2017-2022. His research activities have focused upon fundamental and applied aspects of crystal engineering since 1990. Currently, metal-organic materials (MOMs), ultramicroporous physisorbents, and multi-component pharmaceutical materials (MPMѕ), such as cocrystals, are of particular interest. These new materials are aimed at addressing global challenges such as carbon capture, water purification and better medicines.

Professor Panče Naumov is a tenured professor at New York University, from North Macedonia, and currently he is the Director of the Center for Advanced Materials at New York University Abu Dhabi. He founded the Emirates Chemical Society and the Crystallographic Society and serves as its president. Professor Naumov is a fellow of the American Chemical Society and a Humboldt scholar in Germany. He serves on the editorial board of SmartMat, SmartMolecules, IUCrj and other magazines. He also serves on the review committees of National Science Foundation (NSF); European Research Council (ERC) and other funds. Professor Naumov focuses on the research of smart materials, crystallography, bioluminescence and petroleum omics. He has published more than 200 SCI papers in internationally renowned journals such as JACS, Angew.Chem.In.Ed., Nature Chem., etc., and has been cited more than 10,000 times. Second-rate. In the past five years, Naumov's scientific research team has applied for and been approved for more than 10 million US dollars in scientific research funds. Research projects mainly come from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), Human Science Frontier Program Organization(HFSPO) and UAE National Research Foundation (NRF).
